Shinjuku, Tokyo

The first project, Hotel Kaiyo, resulted in a second one, a twin hotel for the same Japanese company Re-Plus.

It was made in collaboration with a Japanese architect office on location, which designed the complex. I had the same role as in the previous project, but this time it was not a renovation project. It was a completely new complex.

The wish to incorporate patterns to the typography became an interesting mix between detailed and clean and set the inspiration to the design process. I also choose to play with different fades, both on the exteriors and interiors. The strict budget for all premesis was another interesting challange.

Playing a small role in a big context like this has been one of the most interesting collaborations. Working with Japan and their totally new world of standards - or lack of standards, has given me a completely new experience.
